Confession time: I don't have natural artistic talent.

I can't draw, paint, or sketch. And before I started calligraphy, my handwriting was so awful that even I had a hard time reading it.

But that all changed ten years ago when I signed up for a basic lettering class to fulfill a required art credit because I knew I’d fail at drawing or painting.

As soon as I dipped the nib into ink and attempted to create those first shaky letters, my heart leaped with excitement. I practiced religiously and fell in love with the way I could capture thoughts and feelings in ways I never thought possible. The way the ink and pen danced across the page like a ballet on paper was love at first sight.

Over the last ten years, my obsession with lettering has taken me from practicing basic alphabet strokes to working on large-scale heirloom art, crafting hundreds of custom wedding pieces, precision engraving on glass and metal, and teaching students how to unlock their own creative confidence.
